Mustangs of Las Colinas

The Mustangs of Las Colinas

One of the most popular areas for filming and photo shoots is at Williams Square in Las Colinas, which features the famous sculpture The Mustangs of Las Colinas by Robert Glen.  This is the world’s largest equestrian sculpture and provides a captivating backdrop.  It is one of North Texas’ most visited attractions.

Filming and photo shoots must be coordinated through Cousins Properties. For information about rules, rates, and other requirements, contact Cousins Properties at 972-869-5900.  To view the sculpture and plaza, visit 5215 N. O’Connor Boulevard in Irving.

Mandalay Canal and Lake Carolyn

The other areas that are most frequently used for filming and photo shoots are the canals and waterways of Irving’s Mandalay Canal area in Las Colinas, including Lake Carolyn in the Urban Center.  These areas are overseen by DCURD (the Dallas County Utility and Reclamation District).  For a full list of fees, rules, regulations, insurance requirements, and the forms and permits needed to utilize these locations, review the Property Use Permits on the DCURD website at: www.dcurd.org.  This section also includes contact information for the privately-owned areas in the canal area.  For more information, contact DCURD at 972.556.0625

Gondolas on Mandalay Canal

Gondolas on Lake Carolyn

The gondolas on Lake Carolyn are a unique option for filming and photo shoots. The narrow canals have some private inlets with refreshing waterfall views, and the gondolas are the only vessels that ply the waters.

In addition to coordinating permits with DCURD as noted above, more information about the gondolas on Lake Carolyn can be found at www.gondola.com.  Or you can contact Gondola Adventures at 866-646-2064 or irving@gondola.com

Parks and Green Spaces

There are currently 43 parks with over 2,000 acres of land maintained by the City of Irving Parks and Recreation Department, which offer a wide variety of backdrops for filming activities like picnicking, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, canoeing and more.  To review information on all Irving parks, click here.
